Independent Business Month, were you involved?

Just in case you didn’t already know, July has been named Independent Retailer Month and July 4th as Independent’s Day, the idea being that during July everyone should try to support their local businesses in return for the interest shown in the community, did you? Did you do your bit and go local?

Independent Retailer Month

The support and coverage that local businesses have gained from the event has been well received by independent retailers all over the region and country and we really appreciate the continued support that we’ve received over the years; thank you.

Outside of the excitement seen from local businesses many of the social media platforms have being buzzing with discussions between people across the country recommending their local retailers and businesses and what it means to them to help the businesses around them. The main differences people have been impressed with when comparing their normal shopping activities with large chains has mostly been around the experience they had when going local have been; the vastly superior quality of service they received and the way they were made to feel genuinely valued by that business.

Offering the best quality products at affordable prices and maintaining good relationships with our customers is something we have been proud to uphold since day one here at Lefton’s. We stand by our principles of quality value and service as do many independent retailers and it seems the tide has turned a little on the big boys, especially this month. All the big high street names have been issuing warning on profit and reducing sales, where as this month has definitely been a boost for local independents.

We also support local and independent with much of our furniture coming from smaller UK and European design houses, although sadly some of the Lancashire and UK firms we have dealt with over the years have long since disappeared. We also shop locally too and regularly found stocking up in Booths, Lanigans of Lytham, Bonds of Elswick and spotted out at The Big Blue Hotel, Jali Restaurant on the promenade and Caffe Dolce in Blackpool.

It is a commonly known fact that much more of the money spent in local stores makes its way back into the community compared to the money that’s spent in large chains, this has to be one of the main benefits of shopping local, and further benefitting the community we live and work in.  So do you like us at Lefton’s think Independent Retailer Month  should be a big event in people’s calendars? If you do then come down and pay us a visit at Lefton’s, the most customer focussed furniture retailer in the area, to show us your support!
